Gosh, can I get in college?

Well I am 15 and my dad was talking to me about what I wanted to do when I grew up. I told him that I wanted to be a juvenile counselor and he said "No way, That job is useless and never REALLY helps anyone. I am not paying for your college unless you go to be a doctor". Well I am sorry but that's not where my heart is. I want to be a juvenile counselor cause I know that most of my friends have taken realy bad paths and couldv'e used a good counselor. I am a straight A student. Do you think that if I get enough scholarships and grants and student loans and get a job and save up my money I will be able to get into LSU. I live in Missouri. Do you think since I volunteer and I am in FCCLA that will help any? I am also thinking of moving in with a friend the day I turn 18. Please help me out yall
