Is it illegal in Grand Rapids MI to use profanity in a conversation in public?

I was just having a conversation in public where (yes it got a little loud, not real loud) I slipped the f-bomb to my ociate, and was asked to stop swearing cuz supposedly there were kids around, which I immediately apologized for, but then the store owner came out and threatened to call the police, then I scrammed.
