A question on the medical aspect of transuality as it pertains to religion and/or morality?

I had asked a question earlier on medicine and faith (found here a href="http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlbdUZ4ddYWdMx1E4F6zgq_ty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080714161152AAhoxCw"http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…/a ) I received many good answers. However, I do have another question that relates to the first but thought I would separate the two so as not to get them confused. Here is the question. As a person born ed (I know many of you will argue this point but whether you choose to believe the evidence that is out there or not is not the issue at this time) would it not be my responsibility to seek the medical treatment available for this? Currently the ONLY known medical treatment is a hormone regimen and an adoption of gender role that matches the gender identity of the ed individual. Judging from the responses on the other question, it seems that when faced with most any other medical situation, that medicine is often put here as sort of God's method of healing someone. Why would it not apply here?
